Welcome to St. Barnabas CofE Primary School (Green Lane, Worcester, WR3 8NZ)

Proud to be a Green Flag Distinction School

We have been  Green Flag school for over twenty years, the last four years being awarded Distinction. This reflects the golden thread of Environmental Education that runs through everything we do at St Barnabas. Whether it be our superb allotment, our exceptional curriculum,  school food choices or the paper we use in our photocopier, our school is environmentally aware and takes positive action. Our amazing Environmental Education (Eco) Team are always part of the decision making process and often have fantastic ideas for how we can look after our community, local environment and make sustainable choices for the world!

Our Eco Code

Let's Go Zero

St. Barnabas has signed up  with Let’s Go Zero to become zero carbon by 2030.  We have a family friendly climate action plan with themes around Transport, Biodiversity and Energy and find ways to have realistic ‘green’ projects, lower our energy bills, create great outdoor spaces and eat planet friendly food.

Come along to one of our Pre-Loved Uniform sales or see the school office if you are interested in sustainable uniform choices!

Join us on our Let’s Cut Carbon mission!

Our School Allotment

Our allotment has been developed from scratch by our environmental team. Planning and tending to our allotment is part of our curriculum and gives the children opportunities outside the classroom to learn, develop and grow (themselves and vegetables!)

Children love their ‘From Farm to Fork’ experiences, growing, harvesting, cooking and eating new foods.

Each year different groups of children work the land and focus on learning objectives which range from developing resilience and teamwork (social and emotional development) through to scientific learning and knowledge. One year 3 child said:

“I feel at home on the allotment, it is my place to relax, learn and get my hands dirty.”

Our older children even ‘Dig For Victory’ as part of their WW2 project. Environmental Education is embedded across many subject areas.

What else do we do?
