Welcome to St. Barnabas CofE Primary School (Green Lane, Worcester, WR3 8NZ)

Statement of Intent

Our intention is that our Science curriculum extends opportunity, raises aspiration, opens children’s eyes to the world beyond their immediate environment and enables every child to live a happy, healthy and productive life.

We provide first hand learning experiences that allow all children to develop interpersonal skills and build resilience. Our cross-curricular approach enables our children to make meaningful links with their learning.  We aim to encourage a growth mindset in every child as it is often through mistakes we learn the most.

Our curriculum is focused on the development of children’s knowledge and skills across all primary subjects with the aim of ensuring pupils are ready for the next stage of their learning. Families are key partners in developing children’s attitudes, knowledge, skills and experiences.

Skills Progression

Learning in Science

At St Barnabas we love to deepen our knowledge, skills and understanding by being curious and asking questions.

As a result of our school’s great work with the Ogden Trust and Worcester University, we were selected for an incredible STEM day led by professional scientists. Themes included energy and climate change, using microscopes to investigate pollen, inside the body– the immune response and how materials change. Children in Years 3,4 and 5 all received a great science pack. It was fantastic to see so many parents and family members to be able to attend the STEM day. We all learnt so much.

Our Year 2 Super Scientist has been amazing with continuing her love of Science at home. Look at these great photos and watch her incredible video.
She also spoke so confidently in front of the school explaining her great work using her oracy skills.
Great work Professor Ava
