Geography Curriculum Statement
GEOGRAPHY
Geography aims to help children develop their contextual knowledge of significant global places, including their physical and human characteristics. It helps children to understand the processes that shape the geographical features of the world. Geographical skills are needed to collect, interpret and communicate information.
At St. Barnabas, the children develop these aims through a thematic and creative curriculum approach. They develop an appreciation of the world at a variety of scales, from our local area (including people who are important to us), significant locations in the UK, Europe, Tanzania, South and North America.
The inter-action between human and physical geography is investigated and questions raised to gain an understanding of our roles and responsibilities as world-wide citizens.
Please watch our Humanities review 2019 slideshow which shows a range of learning experiences for our children
